This poster created by Pasteinplace for ArtCrank Portland features three of the world’s top cycling cities drawn to the same scale. Each map includes the respective city’s hydrological features (to provide orientation) and the cycling network. The cycling network shows all bicycle routes that are physically marked, including bicycle lanes, cycle tracks, bicycle boulevards and off-street bicycle paths.
The aim of this project is to encourage comparisons and speculation about similarities and differences between the cycling networks (and bicycle cultures) in these cities.

Killer t-shirt collection aside, this crew of talented and creative individuals stood out from the beginning. We were stoked when they asked to us to print a couple of sizable stacks of cards and hang tags for them. Their simple, yet powerful logo was a great fit for the medium. Join us for a “Meet & Greet” in the Library with Linotype operators and printers at 6 p.m., screening to follow at 7 p.m. The filmmaker will be in attendance, and time will be available for Q&A after the screening.
This screening is organized by the C.C. Stern Type Foundry in conjunction with the American Typecasting Fellowship Conference, and is funded in part by the Regional Arts & Culture Council.
About Linotype: The Film
Linotype: The Film is a feature-length documentary centered around the Linotype type casting machine. Called the “Eighth Wonder of the World” by Thomas Edison, it revolutionized printing and society. The film tells the charming and emotional story of the people connected to the Linotype and how it impacted the world.

Last Spring we were approached by Boyd Coffee Company and asked to create a limited-edition, commemorative letterpress broadside for the 24th Annual SCAA Exposition that took place here in Portland. As host sponsor, Boyd’s wanted the content of the prints to draw on the rich and vibrant Portland history and coffee culture. The edition of 300 was printed on our Universal I Vandercook Proof Press in 2-colors. Each print is signed and numbered. Broadsides and small prints are available for purchase in the Boyd’s online store. $5 of each broadside purchase will be donated to Grounds for Health.
